A side conference
POC 9 – a sort of alternative event taking place at the Ninth Session of the Conference of the Parties – roots in an utopia, and its realization is therefore ineluctable.
As Milan’s Conference is opening in an atmosphere of uncertainty, the Italian NGO Committee with its POC 9 aims to highlight how crucial this moment is and how urgently the Kyoto Protocol must enter into force, since this would be at least a good start.
POC 9 suggests with practical examples a real meeting opportunity, in which all the governments stop being single Parties and consider themselves as a whole, evading the logic of the market: Parties Overcome Competition.
In POC 9 all the delegates, having a great responsibility to the present and future generations, build up a unique partnership and achieve without hindrance a common result.
On the opening day the delegates, as well as local institutions representatives, received a POC 9 plant as a gift - a little “green area”, like the world, is now in their hands.
We hope they will take care of it.
